If you holiday 2 or times a year, plan on buying a Tenerife property anytime soon or have monthly mortgage payments to make in a foreign country then the next 2 or 3 minutes you spend reading this page could save you a heck of a lot of money!!!
In recent months you may have gotten as much as 1.18€ for your pound or as little as 1.00€ for your pound – the dreaded “parity” rate. It is now a fact that this exchange rate is very tricky to predict and it has caught many an unwary traveler out not once but many times. Trying to figure out whether to buy your Euros in Tenerife upon arrival or in the post office or airport back home can now make quite a difference to your spending power once you get here. If you are making mortgage payments then you could be losing money every single month, money that would otherwise be reducing the amount you owe the Spanish Bank you borrowed from.
So whats the solution? Well like with most things, speaking to an expert and asking them what they recommend is a good place to start. Advice is usually free and if you don´t like what you here then there is little lost other than a few moments of your time. On the other hand, you may discover you have been missing out and overpaying all these years!
As part of the largest mortgage brokerage in Tenerife but the whole of Spain we oversee A LOT of international transactions as such it has been in our interests to look into the best possible ways of making sure these go smoothly. It therefore goes without saying that we could tell you some horror stories, give you a list of companies you most definitely do not want to deal with and point you in the opposite direction to some decent outfits who will look after you and your money.
We are approached 3 or 4 times a month by Currency companies who want to advertise across our range of websites but because these companies can make such a big difference to our clients experience and our ability to get them to completion on purchase we don´t allow advertising of any kind. Any companies on our sites are there on merit and their level of service is constantly reviewed to ensure they keep to our strict standards.
Of the companies we would recommend, some would be on the basis of them having the best rates we have ever seen and others because they have been so good at explaining all the options available in plain English to clients who really don´t know a lot about the ins and outs of currency exchange. It is therefore a rare thing indeed to see a company consistently getting both things right so when one does, we are more than happy to give credit where its due and recommend them. So unless and until another company decides to up the ante and equal or better them (I can´t imagine it happening anytime soon) we will be recommending the services of Currency Index to all of our clients
